Statistics show that more women repay their loans than do men. In addition, lending to women increases family expenditures on health, education, and nutrition.
Women who know each other well and who are from the same community or area will, with the assistance of ADIM, form a solidarity group. Typically, a solidarity group will have three to six members.
Once initial training is completed, ADIM will make a loan to the solidarity group, and the head of the group will distribute the amount received amongst the members.
The group is responsible for the repayment of the loans made to each member in the group.
As client cash flows grow, ADIM may make additional loans to the group or where appropriate to one or more of the individuals in the group. To receive a second (or subsequent loan), the group or group member must have repaid its previous loan in full and on time.
