CLIENT LOANS
SMALL BUSINESSES, SMALL LOANS, BIG IMPACT
We are focused on making small loans to Indigenous women entrepreneurs to help them make more money and move out of poverty. They need to provide a business plan to achieve this objective (we often help them with this).
Statistics show that more women repay their loans than do men. In addition, lending to women increases family expenditures on health, education, and nutrition. This is true in solidarity group lending as well as in lending to individuals.
We seek to help the poor clients and therefore focus on smaller loan amounts.
We fund MFI Partners with loans that require no repayment of principal for 5-7 years. Interest payable to Open to Grow on these loans can at our option be added to the principal amount of the loan. The loans are typically secured by an endorsed portfolio of client loans equal to 120% of the amount provided to the MFI Partner.
